India is the second largest global producer of groundnuts, with a cultivation area of 54.2 lakh hectares and a total production of 101 lakh tonnes in 2021-22.
Gujarat produces 46,45,520 tonnes of groundnuts annually. Saurashtra is the heart of Gujarat and India for groundnut production, followed by Amreli, Junagadh, Rajkot, Jamnagar
Rajasthan produces 16,19,330 tonnes of groundnut yearly. Rajasthan's main groundnut production districts are Jaipur, Kota, Dungarpur, and Banswara.
Annually, Tamil Nadu produces 10,33,000 tonnes of groundnuts. The state's major districts for groundnut production include Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Vellore and Cuddalore.
Andhra Pradesh ranks fourth in groundnut production at 848,790 tonnes annually. Anantapur leads in both production (2.98 lakh tonnes) and area (5.35 lakhs) for groundnuts in the state.
Karnataka is one of the leading producers of groundnuts, with markets in various cities, including Vijayapura, Challekere, Chitradurga, Davangere, Koppal, Raichur, and Ramdurga.
