India is a leading global oilseed producer, covering 12% of the total cropped area of the country. Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and more thrive as India's top oilseed hubs.
Rajasthan is the largest oil-seed-producing state in india. The state produced 7.9 million metric tons in 2021. Bharatpur, Alwar, and Dholpur are major oil-producing districts in Rajasthan.
In FY 2021, Maharashtra ranked the second-largest oilseed producer, with 6.7 million tons. However Madhya Pradesh contributed 6.3 million tons to the oilseed production.
Madhya Pradesh is recognised for its substantial contribution to oilseed production in India. It produced 6.4 million tons of oilseed annually.
Gujarat is India's fourth-largest oilseed-producing state, contributing around 6,1889 million tons of oil annually. The main oilfields of this region are Ankleshwar, Luni, Kalol and Barkol.
Haryana ranked fifth among Indian oilseed-producing states, contributing 1.3 million tons yearly. It adds economic growth and energy self-sufficiency to its diverse identity.
