Shifting cultivation is one of the famous traditional forms of agriculture where the land is cultivated temporarily by the farmers.
In India, this process is done by cutting and burning the native vegetation. It is also called Slash and Burn Agriculture.
This farming is done mainly in hilly areas and southern parts of India.
