Rajasthan takes the front seat in India's pearl millet production, and it's joined by a league of states, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, all actively contributing to the growth of this crop.
Rajasthan leads in pearl millet cultivation with about 46 lakh hectares, producing roughly 28 lakh tonnes at an average productivity of 400 kg per hectare, making it the highest in India.
Uttar Pradesh is India's second-largest pearl millet producer, contributing around 1.78 million tonnes annually to the national production. It significantly contributes to India's pearl millet production.
Haryana is the third largest producer of pearl millet in India. Haryana produces 1,006,320 tons of pearls every year. It is grown in the Hisar and Fatehabad districts of Haryana.
Madhya Pradesh secures the fourth position in India's pearl millet production rankings, annually contributing a substantial volume of approximately 757,370 tonnes.
Maharashtra is a significant pearl millet producer in India, with substantial cultivation and production. It plays a vital role in the country's overall pearl millet output.
