Light, well-aerated dry & calcareous soil rich in organic matter and ph ranging between 7.0-8.3 is ideal for lavender cultivation.
Lavender is suitable for cool winters and cool summers. Being a temperate plant, lavender can survive droughts & frost conditions.
Autumn or spring is the ideal time for transplanting seedlings. Plant-to-plant distance should be 4 feet, and it should be 30-40 cm between rows.
Frequent irrigation is necessary for the first two years until the crop develops. Lighter soils and low-rainfall areas should get frequent irrigation.
Per hectare, the recommended N:P:K dose is 100kg, 40kg, and 40 kg with organic manure such as cow dung, etc.
Under optimal farming conditions, the average yield from lavender cultivation is 15kg/hectare with 1.2-1.5% oil content.
