Jamun (Indian Black plum or Blackberry) is a tree with sweet black fruits. It attributes its origin to India and Southeast Asia, but now grows throughout the world.

Lowers blood sugar, prevents infections, improves digestion, prevents diarrhea, fights against scurvy, helps prevent liver and kidney diseases.

Maharashtra, UP, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Assam are some of the states that produce Jamun in India. It is the second largest producer after Indonesia.

Mostly, Jamun prefers soils with pH 6.5 - 8.5. It can tolerate waterlogging and salty soils for a bit, but proper maintenance is advisable.

Harvest in 90 to 150 days after flowering - depending on the variety. Harvest when the fruits turn dark purple or black, once again depending on the variety. Handpicking is best.
