Retail Tractor Sales Report August 2024 - Sales Drop by 11.39%, with 65,478 Units Sold

FADA released Retail Tractor Sales Data on 5 September 2024. The data indicates that 65,478 tractor sales were made in August 2024, a decrease from the 73,892 units sold in August 2023. Consequently, tractor sales in India declined by 11.39% in August 2024.

Brand Wise FADA Tractor Sales Report 2024

Mahindra Tractor continues to lead the market. They sold 16,183 units in August 2024, which is 9.74% lower than the 17,929 units sold in August 2023. However, their market share slightly increased, reaching 24.72% in August 2024 compared to 24.26% in August 2023. This shows that despite selling fewer units, their hold on the market has strengthened a bit with 0.46%.

Swaraj Tractor, a division of Mahindra & Mahindra also experienced a sales drop, selling 12,221 units in August 2024, which is 8.89% less than in August 2023, when they sold 13,413 units. Still, their market share went up to 18.66% from 18.15% in August 2023, indicating a small improvement in their position with a market share of 0.51%.

International Tractors Limited performed better than other brands. They sold 8,495 units in August 2024, slightly higher by 0.44% than the 8,458 units sold in August 2023. Their market share increased to 12.97%, up from 11.45% in August 2023, showing steady growth of 1.52%.

TAFE Limited faced a steep decline, with sales falling by 25.56%. They sold 7,119 units in August 2024, down from 9,564 in August 2023. This drop also affected their market share, with 2.07% in August 2023.

Escorts Limited (Agri Machinery Group) saw a 21.04% sales decline. They sold 5,869 units in August 2024, compared to 7,433 units in August 2023. Their market share also fell, dropping by 1.10% in August 2023.

John Deere India (Tractor Division), however, showed positive growth. They sold 5,313 units in August 2024, an 8.43% increase from the 4,900 units sold in August 2023. Their market share improved to 1.48% in August 2023.

Eicher Tractors had a difficult month, with sales dropping by 15.72%. They sold 4,182 units in August 2024, down from 4,962 units in August 2023. Their market share slightly decreased to 6.39% from 6.72% in August 2023.

CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd performed relatively well, increasing its sales by 7.01%. It sold 2,550 units in August 2024, up from 2,383 units in August 2023. Its market share also grew to 3.89%, compared to 3.22% in August 2023. Therefore, the total market share is 0.67%.

Kubota Agricultural Machinery India Pvt Ltd faced a significant sales drop of 18.86%, with 1,222 units sold in August 2024, down from 1,506 units in August 2023. Their market share slightly decreased to 0.17%.

Other brands also saw a large sales decline, with a 30.50% drop. They sold 2,324 units in August 2024, compared to 3,344 units in August 2023. Their market share decreased from 4.53% to 3.55%, which shows a decline of 0.98%.

In summary, while some brands like John Deere India and International Tractors Limited managed to grow their sales and market share, most other manufacturers faced declines in both areas. The overall market contracted, making August 2024 a tough month for the tractor industry.
