With an aim towards carbon neutrality, CNH International, this Friday, released a new and futuristic New Holland T4 Electric Power. This tractor is the first in its kind tractor prototype with autonomous features. The tractor’s first look was revealed on its Tech Day in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
In a press release, the company stated that the project was completed in partnership and collaboration with Monarch Tractor, an electric agri-machine innovator based in California, USA. The brand further made it clear that without Monarch’s seamless technology, it wouldn’t be possible.
CNH International takes the marvel manufacture as a milestone and considers it as the first step towards its electrification. Marc Kermisch, Chief Digital & Information Officer, CNH Industrial, stated at the event that the T4 Electric Power, the prototype, will be an ideal solution for low power requirements. He further said the tractor is best suited for small and medium-scale farming, agricultural, and speciality operations. Expecting good feedback and adaptation among the consumers, he added that the company would move forward with its electrification plan more confidently.
New Holland T4 Electric Power comes with a power range of 0-120 HP with a maximum torque of 440 Newton-Metres. With a 4wd drive, the electric tractor comes with a max speed of 40 Kmph. Talking about the battery, on a full charge, the tractor serves a full day of operation. Speaking further, the tractor, when charged using a fast charger, takes only an hour to reach 100% power capacity. In addition to the above features, the tractors support welding, drilling and power backup facilities to keep a farmer’s other farming requirements in the loop.
The T4 Electric Power from CNH International on testing presented better starting torque, reduced operational costs (by 90%), 90% reduced noise and a substantial reduction in tractor vibration. Furthermore, it provides better traction control and smoother gear shifts and shuttling.
The tractor’s body is filled with smart sensors, AI-powered cameras, and control units that enable the following autonomous features.
This electric tractor and its methane-powered counterparts represent the company’s bold move towards carbon neutrality and a sustainable future.
