Mahindra Tractors Launches Rural Youth Skill Dev Centre in Nagpur

The Vedic-Mahindra Skill Development Centre, inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, aims to enhance the skills of rural youth. The collaborators of this centre; VDIA, Yantra India Limited, and Mahindra Tractors are working together to support PM Modi’s skill development goals. Marking 60 years of Mahindra, this skill development centre offers training in sales, service, and assembly operations. 

The Vedic-Mahindra Skill Development Center was inaugurated at the Ordnance Factory in Ambajhari today in the presence of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. 

The launch was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Dinesh Roy, Founder Chairman, Alliance of Indian MSMEs (AIM), and Former Secretary, MSME, GOI; Gurudatta Ray, officiating Chairman and Managing Director, Yantra India Limited; Nachiket Kodakani, Senior Vice President- Manufacturing, CME, SCPC, and Quality at Mahindra Tractors; Kapil Chandrayan consultant at NSDC: Vipin Itankar, IAS, Nagpur District Collector; and Dilip V. Gondnale, Chairman of VEDIC (Vidharbha Engineering Design & Innovation Centre) and other dignitaries graced the launch. 

In partnership with major entities, the centre is focused to address the challenges faced by rural youth and promote skill development in the Vidharbha region.

Mahindra Tractors CEO Vikram Wagh elaborated on Mahindra's vision for the centre, “At Mahindra, we believe that by providing world-class skill development, we can create numerous opportunities for rural youth and women, enabling them to build successful careers and address the challenges of rural India while contributing to the nation's growth. The inauguration of the Skill Development Centre, 'VEDIC-Mahindra SDC' in Nagpur, is a testament to that objective and a major milestone in Mahindra Tractors' continued thrust toward transforming lives and strengthening communities.”

The project marks a significant milestone as Mahindra Tractors celebrates 60 years of market leadership and sales of 4 million tractors. The establishment of this facility underscores the company’s commitment to empowerment and national well-being. This is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on skills development as the country’s top priority in tackling India’s unique demographic dividend. 

Through VEDIC-Mahindra SDC, Mahindra Tractors aims to provide unmatched industry expertise in tractor and farm machinery and a strong commitment to excellence in skill development. The centre's curriculum has been optimised to include skills development in tractor service, sales, and assembly. Delivered by top industry trainers, students will gain access to the latest technical equipment and gain hands-on experience in a variety of tractor skills.
