Govt Launches AgriSure and Krishi Nivesh Portal to Support Agri Startups

The Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched the AgriSURE Fund and Krishi Nivesh Portal on 4 September 2024 in Delhi. Various bankers, investors, and startup experts attended this event. These projects are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's latest plans to support agriculture, primarily startups.

What is AgriSure Fund?

AgriSure is a new Rs 750 crore fund aimed at accelerating rural startups and businesses. It focuses on technology and high-impact ideas to help grow and improve farming. The fund will be active for 10 years, with a chance for extension. It would focus on enhancing farm output, creating rural infrastructure, and promoting Farmer Producer Organisations (FAOs). This fund will enhance farmers' income and create more job opportunities in agriculture.

Agriculture contributes 16% to the GDP and is the backbone of the Indian economy. Thus, the initiative AgriSURE will definitely ensure investment in agriculture startups, thereby creating numerous job opportunities in the sector.

What is Krishi Nivesh Portal?

Krishi Nivesh Portal is a new online single window that can smoothen and clarify investments in agriculture. It will also help local and international investors with guidelines on market entry and assist them in establishing their operations in India. This portal also provides special support and training for women in agriculture. It will organize all investment opportunities and information under one umbrella. 

How Will These Initiatives Empower Farmers?

• AgriSURE Fund: Rural infrastructure will be enhanced, farm produce will be value-added, and technology-driven projects will be given a boost. The proposed fund will also generate more employment in agriculture.
• Krishi Nivesh Portal: This portal would facilitate investors in the identification and application of government schemes in agriculture with ease.

The new projects aim to strengthen the agricultural sector in India and support farmers from different parts of the nation.
