Rajasthan Hosts Agri Pre-Summit on Oct 24 to Enhance Investments

Rajasthan organizes an Agri pre-summit on October 24 as part of Rising Rajasthan in an effort to draw investments into the agricultural and food processing industries. This accounts for approximately 27% of the state's GDP.

Focus on Agriculture and Food Processing at Pre-Summit

The 'Rajasthan Sahkari Gopal Credit Card Yojana' scheme has been launched by the Bhajan Lal Sharma government to aid in cash flow for farmer families. This is a new scheme that has developed very recently, as with Kisan Credit Card. Under this credit card facility, interest-free short-term loans of up to Rs 1 lakh could be taken for developing sheds and purchasing fodder and dairy equipment. The approved amount under this scheme needs to be paid back within 12 equal monthly installments.

Under this scheme, borrowers must insure their animals and obtain life insurance equal to the loan amount. This requirement ensures that farmers are protected financially.

The state government has also announced a Knowledge Enhancement Programme in this year's Budget. In the first phase of this initiative, 100 progressive young farmers from Rajasthan will receive training abroad. The horticulture department has already selected 75 farmers for this training, with the remaining 25 to be chosen soon by the state government.

Selected Farmers to Explore Innovations Abroad

Of the 100 farmers participating, 80 will focus on agriculture, while 20 will come from dairy and animal husbandry. They will be divided into four groups and visit to countries like the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Israel for 5 to 7 days. They will learn about the latest advancements in agricultural and animal husbandry.

Due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia, traveling to Israel may face delays, prompting the state government to consider alternative countries for training.

These farmers will be trained in innovative agricultural and animal husbandry methods. The training will inspire farmers in Rajasthan to innovate and allow them to share knowledge on technical developments in the agricultural industry.
